Class Offerings

New England Academy of Dance offers a full complement of classes from Mommy and Me to Adult Zumba. Our focus is on providing a rigorous curriculum to the dedicated ballerina, but we offer many classes to suit all tastes and ages. Classes for our youngest dancers meet once per week for 45 minutes while our more advanced classes meet for 2 hours 5 days per week.

Children’s Division
Classes for our youngest dancers are age appropriate movement and exercise classes which incorporate music, props and fun. These dancers are exposed to ballet steps and vocabulary through game-like exercises that teach body alignment, posture, motor skills, and the discipline required for ballet.

Student Division
These classes introduce the fundamentals of ballet including elementary positions and steps, musicality, and an expanded dance vocabulary. Students develop coordination, strength, and flexibility while learning to follow directions in a more structured class environment. We work on ballet technique, musicality, body alignment, and posture, while introducing many new positions and combinations both at the barre and on the center floor.

PreProfessional Division
These classes focus on both barre and center work and introduce pointe work.  At the barre, we teach more intricate exercises with an emphasis on proper body alignment and foot and leg strength. In the center and across the floor, we teach slow, sustained movement, turns, waltzes, jumps, and traveling steps. We place greater emphasis on proper execution and build the complexity of the steps.

Adult Dance & Fitness Classes
Our Adult Dance and Fitness Program offer adults an opportunity to experience dance as exercise. We offer Adult Ballet and Zumba which develop cardiovascular capacity while building coordination, strength and flexibility.

Extensions Program
Our Extensions Program provides dancers with opportunities to dance outside of the Ballet genre. Ballet dancers get to experience other types of movement and non Ballet dancers learn correct dance techniques in a wide variety of dance genres.
