Policies & Fees

Registration

Registration for the spring 2010 semester is on January 9 and 10 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We accept students on a first-come, first-served basis, as our class sizes are limited. Tuition for the semester must be paid in full before students may participate in class. Registration fee is $35 per student for one year and no tuition refunds will be given once classes have begun. New students may take one class free-of-charge before committing to a full semester.

Tuition and Fees

The tuition fee for each class is $340 per semester. There is a performance and costume fee due upon spring semester registration for students participating in our Spring Performance. There is also a performance fee for participation in our annual Nutcracker performance.

Placement

Class placement is based on students’ prior training and his or her technique, strength, talent and ability. Our syllabus follows an orderly progression in which advanced steps and combinations are learned only after the fundamentals have been mastered. Placement is at the discretion of the NEAD faculty, regardless of a student’s age. New students over the age of 10 are required to audition for placement.

Attendance and tardiness

Students who arrive late for class may not be admitted, depending on the teacher’s discretion. Repeated lateness or absences may result in a recommendation to change the student’s class level. Parents are asked to please pick up students promptly at the end of class to ensure safety.

Make-up

Missed classes due to illness or emergency may be made up within the same semester in a class of the same or lower level. Students must first consult with the teacher to schedule make-up class.

Schedule and class cancellation

Schedule is subject to change. NEAD reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment and to close a class when it reaches its capacity. There will be no classes if local schools are closed or have early dismissal due to inclement weather (snow days).

Visitation

NEAD has an open-door policy. Parents may observe class at any time with advance permission of the directors.

Communication and updates

Our policy regarding parent-teacher communication ensures we are available to discuss any questions or concerns, while making sure that such concerns do not take priority over class time. In order to ensure that our students get the most out of their classes, we ask that parents direct their questions to our staff in one of two ways:

  • Consult any of the members of our office staff during our open office hours or by calling 203-972-3265
  • E-mail our office at neadinfo@aol.com
